Could You Name Five Champagne Brands Right Now? A Real Assessment Day Question
Could you name five Champagne brands right now, with no googling and no time to prepare?
It is a real question from one of the biggest private jet operators' assessment days, and it can also come up in the hospitality part of an interview for a private jet. It sounds simple until you have to answer it out loud, in front of the recruiters.

Principals also ask for Champagne by house name, so it pays to recognise the bottle and the label long before service. Here are five Champagne houses to start with.
CHAMPAGNE HOUSE 01
Moët & Chandon
Know the label of its signature Champagne, Impérial Brut.
CHAMPAGNE HOUSE 02
Veuve Clicquot
Recognise it by its signature Brut Yellow Label.
CHAMPAGNE HOUSE 03
Dom Pérignon
A prestige house, best known for its Vintage.
CHAMPAGNE HOUSE 04
Krug
Another prestige house. Start with its Grande Cuvée.
CHAMPAGNE HOUSE 05
Ruinart
A fine house to know by its Blanc de Blancs.
Others you will meet include Bollinger, Perrier-Jouët, Pol Roger, Laurent-Perrier, Louis Roederer, Taittinger and G.H. Mumm.
Now test yourself
Cover the list and try again, then do the same for five wines and five liquor brands. A principal who asks 'what are we drinking?' should hear a confident answer, not a glance at the label.
